Loco Publishing

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

The first family owned, locally traveling publishing company is looking for submissions of cutting edge writing to feature.

Loco Publishing looks for local writers to share the way they view their cities. Formerly located in the industrial and artistic Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, we have since chugged our little train across the land to sunny Vallejo, California.

So to any of you authors and writers out there; if you've been told your words are too jagged, or your style isn't "what people want to read", we ask that you send your words along to us: we want to hear from you! And we want you to be heard.

Sono Qui

"Sono qui", or "I am here", is our motto. By this we mean that where ever we are in life is where we aim to be: living and immersing ourselves in the surrounding culture. This comes from a thirsty desire to be always trying new things and places. Part of the overall experience we hope to create through our publications is meeting new people and to paraphrase Jean Luc; to boldly go where one hasn't before!

Loco Publishing is calling for carriages of a literary nature. Give our passengers a glimpse into your mind as they travel across the country in our bi-annual publication, The Caboose, to see what is going on in our great big nation!

What are we looking for?

Submissions of any kind are absolutely welcome; science fiction, poetry, fiction, non-fiction, drama, comedy, dark humor, slapstick, you name the genre. We are looking for authors to tell our readers about their communities, states, and states of mind. We have our first Bi-annual anthologies to come out in 2014: let your voice be heard on the street and the internet as we go viral with e-book publication this spring. Please DO NOT EXCEED the guidelines listed below. We cannot stress this enough, if we receive a submission out of the ranges listed here we will automatically reject said submissions. Just tell us if your submission is above and beyond these parameters, and we can always ask for more.

We are also looking for authors of novels at this time, and novel submissions will remain open until all needs are met.

The following will be accepted for review:

Short stories

Up to 10,000 word count, double spaced. Only PDF format will be accepted. Upon acceptance of submission, we will ask for additional documents to be sent for editing and formatting.

Poetry

2,500 word count, or five pages in PDF format. Upon acceptance of submission, we will ask for additional documents to be sent for editing and formatting.

Note: We will review spoken word poetry. However, due to the nature of speech not translating to the page, we must be able to hear the authors voice coming through the page with the desired intention and intonation.

Novels

50,000 -- 100,000 words completed, and double spaced. Send us a proposal and the first four chapters, or 6,000 words, whichever comes first.

We also encourage all readers and writers to check us out on facebook to show your support for small publishers in this world of behemoths.

We look forward to forming working relationships with our authors.
